Founders Robby & Alex welcome you to DSCND

July 12, 2026

DSCND founders Robby Burleson and Alex Sardella in the mountains

WELCOME TO DSCND

We’ve talked about starting something like DSCND for years. Now it’s finally real.

DSCND was built out of a shared obsession with the mountains and more than fifteen years spent working, traveling, skiing, snowboarding, riding bikes, and building brands in the outdoor industry.

We first met in 2016 through action sports marketing. We came from different places and different backgrounds, but the mountains had taken both of us down a pretty similar path. Over the years, that turned into countless days on snow, trips around the world, long conversations about gear, and eventually the idea to build something of our own.

That idea became DSCND.

We wanted to create a brand that represents the way we actually live. One built around chasing storms and exploring new zones with friends. DSCND represents the descent, while our Tessie logo represents both Tahoe and exploring into the unknown. Every peak you have ever climbed was once unknown, and we continue to chase that feeling today.

With the brand idea set, we wanted to build products at a price that we could personally afford. Pricing has kind of gotten ridiculous in all of action sports. We’ve watched premium outdoor gear continue to get more expensive, to the point where some of the products we use every day are being priced out of reach for a lot of people, including mountain bums like us. We didn’t think quality mountain gear needed to follow that same path.

We want to build gear with the quality, performance, and features we expect ourselves, without adding a premium price simply because the market says we can. The mountains are already expensive enough. Good gear shouldn’t make them even harder to access.

Our first collection starts with goggles because they’re something we use every day on the mountain. We kept the concept simple: clean design, quality materials, fast magnetic lens swaps, and two lenses with every goggle that can be worn for any day throughout the season. We hope goggles are only the beginning.

We have a lot we want to build, places we want to go, and people we want to bring along for the ride. DSCND will continue to evolve around skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, travel, and the people and places that make mountain culture what it is.

For everyone who has helped us get this far and everyone discovering DSCND for the first time, thank you. Starting a new brand from scratch is a wild process, and we’re incredibly excited to finally share it with you. We're independently owned and operated out of Lake Tahoe.

We’ll see you out there.

From the beginning, we wanted to work with athletes who genuinely represent the way we see the mountains, people who are constantly progressing, searching for new terrain, traveling to new places, and building their own story along the way.

When developing DSCND goggles, we tested photochromic lens technology along with traditional lenses from a variety of brands. Photochromic lenses offer the convenience of one lens that adjusts as light conditions change, but we didn't feel the technology gave us the performance we wanted at both ends of the spectrum. We wanted a truly dark lens for bright, high-alpine days and a dedicated low-light lens for the flat light and storm conditions we regularly experience in the mountains.
